THE MOUSETRAP Opens at the ProArts Playhouse in Kihei, 2/17

The-Mousetrap-Opens-at-the-ProArts-Playhouse-in-Kihei-217-20010101

ProArts will present “The Mousetrap” by Agatha Christie, the longest running play ever, as the first show of their Spring season which will continue through May this year. The murder mystery, now in its 60th year, originally opened in 1952 in London and has been playing continuously since then.

Written by the #1 mystery writer of her time, Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap” boasts an ingenious plot which engages the audience from start to satisfying finish. A group of strangers is stranded (of course) during a snow storm at Monkswell Manor, a guest house outside of London in 1952. One or more of these strangers (of course) is a murderer. Superb intrigue and laughter leads to a surprise twist ending (of course).

“The Mousetrap” features the best of Maui talent including Jennifer Rose and Chris Rose as Mollie and Giles Ralston, the owners of the guest house; Dylan Bode as the quirky Christopher Wren; Mark Collmer as the mysterious Mr. Paravicini; Felicia Chernicki as the hard-edged Miss Casewell; Rose Roselinsky as the complaining Mrs. Boyle; Dale Button as the stodgy Major Metcalf; and Frances Tau'a as Detective Sergeant Trotter, sent to investigate the murder.

The show is directed by ProArts veteran Kristi Scott (“Social Security”). The 1950’s costumes are designed by Sarah Loney; with period scenery created by Caro Walker and lighting provided by Bonnie Prucha. ProArts productions are produced by Jonathan Lehman.

Opening night is February 17 and the show runs until March 4. It plays Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 3:00 pm (no show on 2/19). ProArts offers reserved seats for adults at $20.00 and for students 18 & under at $15.00. Kama’?ina nights, with discounts for Hawaii residents, are scheduled for Saturday, February 18, and Thursdays, February 23 and March 1.

The intimate ProArts Playhouse is located at the Azeka (Makai) Shopping Center, 1280 S. Kihei Rd. in Kihei. The Playhouse is air conditioned with 80 reserved seats. There is free parking, plenty of nearby restaurants, and an art gallery inside currently featuring the works of Marjorie Tyler and Ed Lane.

“The Mousetrap” is suitable for all audiences.
